New Perspectives for Watamu: Health and Education Initiatives in Kenya

Watamu, KenyaThis idyllic coastal town on Kenya’s eastern shore is renowned for its pristine beaches and national parks. Yet behind its postcard beauty lies a lesser-seen reality: countless families in the region lack reliable access to healthcare and education. Illnesses that would require nothing more than a routine doctor’s appointment in other parts of the world often remain untreated. Children grow up in households where books are a rare luxury and a dedicated, safe space for education is far from guaranteed.New Roots e.V.: Where It All BeganThe story of New Roots traces back to 2013, sparked by a journey to Kenya and a growing desire to move beyond short-term aid. Adrian, one of the founding members, spent several months volunteering in two orphanages near Nairobi. During this time, he engaged in meaningful conversations with many children and adolescents - touching, often heartbreaking stories that left a lasting impression and strengthened his desire to build a sustainable organization of his own.It was then that he met Kennedy, a young man who had once lived on the streets and grown up in the Children’s Hope Home. His life story, determination to grow, and his openness were deeply moving and made it clear how much potential can unfold when people are given the right opportunities. What began as a friendship soon became the foundation of a shared vision: to create pathways for change. Today, Kennedy is the project leader in Watamu, firmly believing that every child, given access to education and targeted support, can develop the strength to rise above challenging circumstances. His own experiences continue to inspire and offer guidance, showing local children that they, too, have the opportunity to receive an education, and with it, the power to shape their own future. The desire to provide sustainable support led to the first tangible step in 2021: the purchase of a plot of land on site. The original plan was to build an orphanage. However, legal regulations, combined with the growing wish to focus on education, prompted a change in direction: a school. A place where children can learn, grow, and actively shape their future. What began as an idea gradually grew into an organization, one that today creates real opportunities through deep collaboration with the local community.Development through collaborationThis approach remains at the heart of New Roots’ mission. The organization focuses on education, healthcare, and social inclusion, recognizing that real change can only succeed in close collaboration with the local community. Rather than replacing existing structures, New Roots co-develops initiatives tailored to the region’s specific challenges and aspirations.Today, New Roots runs a school with over 100 children, promotes women through targeted empowerment programmes, organizes regular environmental and clean-up projects and creates reliable jobs by employing local staff. Sustainability is understood holistically - ecologically, socially and structurally. Two Projects Creating Real OpportunitiesWith the construction of a medical center and a library, New Roots e.V. is reaching another important milestone. We are proud to support this meaningful initiative with a dedicated donation, helping create spaces that make education and healthcare accessible to all. Both projects are currently under construction and are expected to be completed in the coming months. The Medical Center will provide free basic healthcare services. This is particularly important in remote areas where even treatable conditions can pose serious risks due to the lack of infrastructure. The facility will be open to the entire community, regardless of income, gender, or background, and is intended to become a reliable point of care for everyday health needsThe Library will provide a safe space for learning, dialogue, and personal growth. In a region where educational resources are scarce and designated learning spaces rare, it will serve as a hub for knowledge, accessible to children, youth, and adults alike. It is a place where the true power of education comes to life: expanding horizons, fostering self-determination, and creating real prospects for the future.Innovation Rooted in PeopleWe understand innovation not only as technological progress, but also as a social responsibility. When education and healthcare become accessible, the foundation for sustainable development is laid. Supporting New Roots' projects is part of this understanding: innovation also means strengthening structures that empower people and creating spaces where potential can grow into perspective. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire New Roots team for their unwavering dedication, and we are honored to contribute to this meaningful mission. To learn more about New Roots or support their work, visit www.new-roots.de for information on current projects and donation opportunities.

Together for Munich!

Support for the Munich Food BankAs a Munich-based company, we bear responsibility for our community – not just in theory, but also in concrete terms on the ground. Our support for the Munich Food Bank is an important part of our social commitment. We believe that every contribution counts – whether through donations, active participation, or partnerships with social organizations. Why the Munich Food Bank?Every week, the Munich Food Bank provides food to around 23,000 people in need in Munich. Over 800 volunteers distribute donated food to more than 28 distribution points. This tireless commitment is essential in a city that outwardly appears to be prosperous, but also harbours hidden poverty.Food that would otherwise be thrown away becomes a valuable resource for people in need through the work of the Tafel. The organization combines social responsibility with sustainability and humanity. Our donation: €15,000 for a good causeThis year, we supported the Munich Tafel with a donation of €15,000. This helps provide the necessary resources for logistics, storage, and distribution. These financial resources are just as important as the food itself to ensure daily operations. This donation is a first step for us. Our hope and goal is to also provide personal support locally in the future and make a contribution together with the volunteers.Donate now and help out!If you would also like to support the Munich Tafel, you can find more information on their website: muenchner-tafel.de . Every donation and every helping hand makes a difference. Conclusion: We're proud to have made a small contribution and look forward to helping even more actively soon. My trip to India: A report

My trip to India: A report

A moving visit to a girls' school for the blind and an orphanage - by Rajdeep Singh HargotraMy mother was always my greatest role model. With a heart of gold and an unwavering desire to do good, she dedicated her life to helping those in need. She founded numerous NGOs for children in India, took many orphans into her care, and worked tirelessly to ensure their well-being. Her lifelong commitment to helping others has had a profound impact on me. Sadly, we had to say goodbye to her during the pandemic. But in her memory and to continue her legacy, I continue her work. With this in mind, I recently visited a girls' school for the blind and an orphanage in the Raipur district of India. This visit was part of a significant initiative by innoscripta AG dedicated to supporting those in need. It was a great honor to represent our company at this important event. On July 16, I started my journey from Munich to Nagpur, India, at 10 a.m. It was a long journey, and I finally reached Nagpur on July 17 at 2:05 a.m. Despite the late hour, I was warmly welcomed at the airport by my older sister and her husband. The drive to our parents' house brought back many memories of the time before I moved to Germany. As I entered my old room, which still looked exactly as I had left it, I felt a deep connection to the past. The next morning, I had a pleasant surprise: my sister from Punjab had also traveled there especially. It was a special moment because I have four sisters who live in different parts of India. I had invited them all so that we could celebrate our mother's birthday together and remember her. After my morning yoga and meditation session, I decided to get my old car out of the garage. The car, which had sat unused for years, was covered in a thick layer of dust. After a few starting difficulties, I had to call the auto service. Meanwhile, my long-time masseur, who had always helped me stay in top shape and recover in time for competitions during my time as a professional jump rope athlete, came by to give me a massage. At 2 p.m. on July 17, my sisters and I were ready to leave for Raipur—a distance of approximately 300 kilometers. Thanks to the new highway between the cities, the 4.5-hour drive was pleasant and comfortable. In Raipur, at 6:30 p.m., we were warmly welcomed by our other two sisters and our father in front of our parents' house with traditional drumming and music. It was the first time in years that the five of us siblings had been reunited after our mother's death. The house was filled with memories and pictures of our mother, making the reunion very emotional for all of us. My father, beaming with joy, prepared a delicious dinner with the help of his cooks and caregivers. After a short run to clear my mind, we enjoyed the meal together, sharing stories and laughing late into the night. The donation from innoscripta AG will hopefully have a profound impact on the lives of these girls and will be used in the following areas: • Medical care: The girls will have access to necessary medical treatment and care. • Education: The donation will contribute to their education and provide them with resources and opportunities for personal development. • Living expenses: The funds will support their daily living expenses and improve their quality of life. • Awareness campaigns: A portion of the donation will be used to organize awareness campaigns in rural areas to help parents better understand and support their children with disabilities. During my visit, Ms. Kavita Sarthi, the President of the Nari Shakti Mahila Vikas Samiti, expressed her deep gratitude for innoscripta's support. She emphasized how crucial this donation is for the future of these children. The next morning, I got up early to start the day with a round of jump rope. Afterwards, I visited the school, where the children I had previously coached surprised me with a small ceremony. It was truly touching to see how much effort they had put in. The school administration had also organized a ceremony and asked me to motivate the students with a speech. After four hours of training and celebration, I returned home to enjoy another invigorating sports massage. After breakfast with my family, I prepared for the highlight of the day.My sisters had prepared meals for this special day and distributed them throughout the city. At 2 p.m., my father and I visited the girls' school for the blind, to which innoscripta made a generous donation. It was a moving moment as we continued my mother's legacy, and my father's joy and pride were palpable. We spent unforgettable hours with the girls, listening to their stories and offering them comfort and hope. Each of their stories was unique and touching, and we managed to bring a smile to their faces through games. Later, we ate and sang together. It was a day full of emotions that I will remember forever. I am deeply grateful for this experience.Reflecting on my visit, I was once again reminded of the impact my mother's tireless dedication to others had on my life. Her legacy lives on in the work we do at innoscripta. This experience was not only deeply emotional but also deeply inspiring, reaffirming my resolve to positively impact the lives of others.During my visit, I took several photos to capture the children's joy and gratitude. Each photo tells a story of resilience and hope, a testament to the positive change we are making together. I invite everyone to join us on this journey. Whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading the word—every bit of support counts. Together, we can continue to bring light and hope where it's needed most.
